This 24 bit portable music player caught my attention recently because of its price / performance factor. I am looking for a music player which sound better than the ipod or iphone and can support 24 bit music and sound neutral. Most importantly it should not be very expensive and have good battery life.

1.Build and UI The build is very solid. Made from entire aluminium cast with a touch screen navigation. It feels solid and heavy in my hand. I have to admit the screen is a little tiny. The User Interface or UI is very straight forward. You do not need to read the manual to figure out how to use this thing. good thing is it do support swipe to lock and unlock. Hold the menu button and you will activate the hidden menu where you can choose the EQ for this player. I will go into this later. 2.

2.Sound Quality

The sound quality is good. But how good is good? Well i am not so good in literature so i can t use bombastic words to describe it. But if i have to choose one word. It is neutral and smooth. You can listen to it for hours without fatigue. Players like Hippo Biscuit have that kind of warm on stage feel but this C3 is completely a different beast. It is very neutral and transparent. So if i were to listen to music with lots of vocal and ochestra i will choose C3 anytime.

I will use a simple grading system to describe the Sound quality from Bad, Normal, Good, Very Good

High = Good
Mid Range = Very Good
Low Range/ Bass = Good

Remember i told you about the EQ setting in the menu. Selecting the Rock preset will turn this player from a neutral tone to more brighter tone. You will perceive to hear more clarity which turn the High from Good to Very Good! Bass is defnitely there but this is not a boomy player. There is no bass boost button and the BASS preset in the EQ will only make things worst. To me it is not an issue as i dont like bass heavy player. But when i need BASS i will pair this with my Fiio E11 portable AMP and it will bring this player to another level!!

 3. Storage and Memory

Alot of people is happy with 4GB or 8GB storage but you know 24 bit audio takes up lots of space! But luckily this player support micro SD card. 4. Summary

At only RM360 for the 8GB version it is definitely a value buy for such a high quality portable music player. Hear it to believe it!

Recently Apple launch IOS 6.0.2 to supposely fix the WIFI issue. However after i update to IOS 6.0.2 i notice there are a few bugs:-

1. I cant get good signal even though i am outdoor. A nokia phone on the similar spot would get 4 bar but i would just get 1 or none occasionally.!!!!

2. When using data on 3G the phone will get very very hot!!!

3. Battery life is as bad as IOS 6.0.1

Hopefully Apple technical team realize this and fix it.

Recently i wanted to start a project. I am looking for a potent computer to do my work such as running vmware with multiple OS, to play game like Diablo and StarCraft and to edit photo. At first i wanted to get an ultimate laptop just like my previous Alienware M11x. But then my wise wife ask me a question, with the same amount of money would you get a better performance computer if i buy a desktop instead..Well yeah she is basically right. To cut cost i should opt for a desktop. I begin my journey by exploring HP PC. Most of the desktop is expensive and have crappy GPU configuration. Most of the time you cant even upgrade the spec. Dell is better but still not good enough. Then i decided to build my own mean machine. I ended with these spec. 1. CPU - i5 3570 (3.4 Ghz which can easily OC to 4 Ghz is good enough for almost all application and games. Anything more than this i think is overkill) 2. RAM - 8G 1600Mhz RAM x 2 (16GB RAM is more than sufficient) 3. GPU - Asus Geforce GTX680 DirectCU ii OC Edition ( Initially i wanted to get GTX670 TOP Edition but end up with this card. The extra core shader and better OC headroom should pay off in the future) 4. Motherboard - Asus P8 Z77-V-LX (The function call Virtu MVP and a software to auto OC is cool) 5. Casing - HAF 912 Advance (3 large 120mm fan at the top , front and back is good enought to keep the system cool. Red LED is an added eye candy) 6. Mushkin 800W power supply ( 800W has enough juice cause i wont do heavy OC in the CPU) 7. A standard DVD writer.

Here is all the boxes! So here i am with a system which could easily score above 9600 in stock mode and more than 11k point if OC in 3DMark 11
Just look at the awesome score!! It may not be the best score but if you calculate the Cost per Performance factor, it is worth every penny.

Fiio E11 + Colorfly C3 + Superlux HD381F is the ultimate budget portable rig for hifi music. It can play 24 bit music with no sweat.!! Hear it to believe it.

Recently i feel empty..i feel the need to find a way to motivate me...and the only way to do so quickly is to listen to music. I have Iphone 4, HTC Evo 3D, Ipod Shuffle..and why the hell do i need to look for a good digital audio player..?? I dont have a direct answer, maybe it is my fetish for aluminium stuff..maybe it is my lust to collect gadgets or maybe i believe good sound reproduction can only be made possible via good hardware and not just software like BBE.

Yeah no screen. It means browsing through folders will be a nightmare. To add salt to injury this lil gem has a micro SD card slot..wtf..imagin having to browse through 5 folders with 100 of songs. The only way you can do it is click on next next next and next...

But then the guy over the counter try to calm me down and ask me to relax. He say chill, listen to the song first and judge the SQ for yourself first.

 

So ok i told myself to give it a try. I Listened to a few demo music from Adele, EAgle Hotel California and some other songs...The first impression i get is "Clean". No hiss no distortion and just pure clean music even if you crank up the volume. It is on the warmer side. Yeah no screen means no build in EQ too..So there will only be 1 sound signature which is a lil bit on the warm side. I did AB comparison with my iphone 4 and this player certainly win in term of SQ most probably because of the clean sound. But i have yet to test it with iphone 4 LOD.

When you amp this Hippo Biscuit with Fiio E11 amp, you will get a bass machine :)

And i think when it is pair with the IEM Hippo Pearl, it gives you a nice , warm on stage feel. Pure audhiophile might not like this as they prefer off stage feel most of the time. The V based EQ signature on this Biscuit will be easily acceptable by average Joe like me..

Another complain is it do not accept flac, WMA and other file format. Just Mp3 and Wav..Hopefully a future firmware update will fix this. I also do not have any information on the hardware. No one knows what type of AMP or chipset is being used. Google is futile...no information on the net. Navigation is simple. The middle button which has a green LED is actually the on off button. You have to hold it for 2 second to turn off or on. Press it again to play and press it again to hold. There is a volume up and down button and two more buttone to play forward or reverse track,.yeah is that bloody simple.

Summary :-If you are looking for a mp3 player with clean sound and intend to use it like the 80s walkman, then this is the player for u. It is sturdy, tough and i doubt it will ever damage cause there is no screen on it. But if you are looking for a mp3 to store all your mp3 collection, then this is not the player for you.

Here is why i think this law is shitty.

1. We are automatically guilty and we have to prove our innocence but how many of us have the technical capability to prove we are not guilty? This require deep technical know how. Eg how do you prove other people have hack into your ipad?

2. All those free wifi provider will stop providing service cause if the user post something bad the wifi provider will be in deep shit and guilty.

...3. If you have a forum or web site and you enable comment, ppl comment on your page then you are guilty too..wtf!!!



How it can be abuse?

1,. You can hack into your enemy computer and post malicious stuff and he is doom!! A good hacker knows how to cover track and it is impossible for this poor victim to trace back what happen!!!



Recommedation to fix it?

1. This law should be put on hold and more research need to be conducted with more participants from IT Security professional

This unit is easy to use. Press the button one time and it will turn on with a constant blue light. to take pic press the button one more time and the blue led blink 1 time. to take video press the button and hold 2 second. the led wil blink continuosly and press the button again to stop.

Dont bother using this thing as a webcam cause it would not work as advertise. The function taking video while charging is buggy. Sometimes it work and sometimes it dont. The microsd card i use for testing is class 4 and the video is kinda of choppy. Use a class 6 above card for smoother video. The battery can last 40 minutes per one hour charge.

It;s been a long time since i visited this seafood restaurant. The famed Coconut Flower Seafood Restaurant. They are famous for the fegmented coconut liquer/brew which gave name to their restaurant. Last time you can get cheap seafood here but now it has been commercialized. So forget about cheap seafood. The price is the same as PJ or KL area.  The road that lead to this restaurant is also bumpy..no tar road , you have to pass through a series of untar road to reach this restaurant.

The atmospehre is good. It gives you the ala vacation like feel. With the attap roof and mini huts it makes u think you are in the resort kind of feeling.

Food quality is acceptable. It is not super nice/tasty nor do it taste bad. There is nothing to shout about. What is special is there do have quite a variety of fish sold here...so your average meal can be super expensive or cheap depending on what type of fish you order. Crab price is pretty standard here which is seasonal pricing similar to pj or kl area.
