Problem Description:-
There is a major bug in Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0
The client will keep on sending quanrantine file in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client\SUSPECT folder to the Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0 Server.

It impact Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0 with Service Pack 1 (Shown below is the component version of the impacted machine.


Damage ? :-
The damange is so massive and u can call this an internal major DDOS attack.

Root cause?
Unknown. Some trend engineer claim it is due to the scan engine 8.950.1094 and some claim it is due to the folder permission is correct.

Solution?
There is no real solution at the moment.
But you ease the damage by doing the following task.

a) rename the cgirecvfile.exe on the OfficeScan server (\pccsrv\web_osce\web\cgi) to prevent high CPU usage on the OSCE server.
b) change virus clean action from IntelliAction to Clean or Delete..(the idea here is not to choose the quarantine as part of the clean action item)

Well u might have thought the action above will solve the issue will ya? Well u r wrong!!!
The client will still continue sending nonsense to the server cause the C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client\SUSPECT folder is not empty yet. It might not be able to establish a connection but will still continue to ping the server.

u might want to write a script which stop the ntrtscan and tmlisten and then del all content in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client\SUSPECT

Well by doing all this u r protected from your internal menace from the time being..

Conclusion:-

Stay away from scan engine 8.950 the quality of trend micro product is really going from bad to worst..god i hate this...


LATEST UPDATE!!!

Ok this bug is mainly due to these 2 folder permission change mysteriously:-

C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client\FLog
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client\Suspect

To fix it u need to grant full permission to everyone on the two folder above..

u can either script it or do it manually...cheers.

or Trend Micro did recommend this:- change the security from normal to high back to normal.

According to some rumor the new Panasonic LX4 or lX5 will have the new 1/1.3" size sensor.

Although this is exciting but not exactly what i really anticipate this year. What i really anticipate this year is the new m43 PEN with the current EP1 size and with an EVF and flash built in with autofocus assist function. Another big announcement Olympus E3 Mk2 which will be a refresh of the current Olympus flagship.

Well i really hate to wait...waiting sucks..

In the meanwhile i would just like to rant..about Olympus Ep1 out of stock problem everywhere...either the seller are holding back stock to sell at a higher price or Olympus really cant cope with the high demand of Olympus EP1 worldwide..

Basically the author mention that you need to hack the RAW file and inject E30 Raw metadata in..

•Install the new Olympus Studio v2.3 (perhaps Olympus Master will work)
•Get the superb ExifTool by Phil Harvey. It is a command line utility (GUI's are available) with astonishing EXIF editing capabilities. Fear not. I will tell you what to input so you won't have to dig through syntax.
•Get yourself an ORF that came from the E-30 or other Art Filter ready camera (some have reported that E-P1 files do not work - this camera's EXIF information differs too much and is incompatibile). We will refer to it as the E30.orf
•Prepare your own ORF from the E-3 or whatever. We will refer to this file as E3.orf. Also, make a copy of it and name it E3backup.orf.
•For simplicity, place all three ORFs in the same folder as EXIFtool
•Copy ALL OF THE METADATA from E30.orf to E3.orf using the EXIFtool. To do that, use the following command line:

exiftool.exe -tagsfromfile e30.orf -exif:all e3.orf

•Done? Great. Now restore all the E3.orf's original MAKERNOTES tag using the command:

exiftool.exe -tagsfromfile e3backup.orf -makernotes:all e3.orf

•It is almost done. When you open the image in Studio, you will probably notice that colours are scrambled. That is caused by different arrangement of Bayer's Colour Filter Array between both cameras (don't get me started). To fix this, use the command:

exiftool.exe -tagsfromfile e3backup.orf -CFAPattern e3.orf

Olympus EP-1 the new micro 4/3 PEN from Olympus is certainly superb in size and image quality but the engineer forgotten a few important feature:-

1. No Auto focus assist light... even a point n shoot have it..well most probably the lens will block the AF light anyway..
2. No build in flash..well FF slr dont have them too
3. No viewfinder..WTF u want to use it like a point and shoot and yet u want a viewfinder
4. No remote wireless commander..duh!
5. Not much m4/3 lens available..shit how many of those noobs who buy SLR ever upgrade away from their existing kit lens?
6. No matching pouch at the moment..hmm $$ oppurtunity
7. Not cheap
8. Resolution of LCD not the highest in industry..well the engineer say it is purposely done to enable viewing under bright sunlight
9. No build in GPS..yeah GPS tagging is cool
10. No buildin wireless card...yeah so i can share pic wirelessly
11. Cannot shoot 5 frame per second
12. Cannot transform into a robot..

ARGHHHHH......please give me enough reason not to buy this piece of junk...!!!

I know Olympus E3 do not have double exposure...but u can mimic the effect by utilizing slow shutter speed :) u dont need all those funny feature in E30 to achieve the same effect.

i donno how to read japanese but look like the LX3 replacement is gonna be a micro four third.

The new PEN from Olympus really kick ass cause it make a lot of Olympus hater into buying olympus. They manage to cramp the SLR size sensor into a point and shoot body..

The iso performance of this lil machine can easily out perform any other crop factor SLR.

However the price at rm2600 for single lens and rm3300 for twin kit lens is a lil but expensive. (the price quoted here is based on the price sold in lowyat.net)

Anyway i just wait and see..and drool..and ahh i let forget about this baby...no budget..

The first Putrajaya shooting trip is a total disaster..why..cause the bridges where i am suppose to go and shoot did not turn on all of it lights..maybe now is recession period and the government is trying to cut cost..

Maybe i need to make a second trip..1st trip is more than a location survey trip..
